It didn't occur to me that BU might be closed today. It is. But I'm here anyway, so I may as well do some work.

Possibly not as much work as I would if other people were in the office, of course...

I'm glad, actually; I work only three days a week, and if I'd been home today, that means three days in a row for the rest of the week, which would be mildly annoying.

(Before those of you with full-time jobs say, mockingly, "oh, you poor dear, that would have been awful," remember that I get paid for only three days a week as well...)

I've got more work than usual since the two people who I share responsibilities with are stranded on the North Shore, but nearly everyone else is here because we're all psychotic type-A's with overdeveloped work ethics.

"I skated across the Charles from my Back Bay apartment."
"I had to harness my children to the front of my car and whip them like dogs to get up that hill."

Yeah, I actually called the boss to let him know I was in; usually I don't attract attention to my presence, as once I'm in the office he'll come and give me things to do.

Incidentally, I note that it's Girl Scout Cookie season already.

When I saw the fire hydrant across the street from us disappear into a snow bank, though, I thought we might have a chance. As it turns out, they had already decided to close as of 11 PM last night. Miraculous, even.
