quislibetWeird dream last night -- it involved parallel earths and Nazis and stuff. People from a more primitive earth were escaping Nazis or something and coming to this one. "I" (not sure at this point that it was supposed to be *me*, if you follow) was part of a support network of former refugees who found the newcomers and helped them blend in, so they wouldn't, for example, hunt and kill neighborhood pets for food.
At one point I infiltrated a meeting of secret Nazi supporters, either on this earth or another one. All of the Nazis at the meeting were deranged or deformed from racial-purity-promoting inbreeding. (As the Rev. Jesse Custer says, why is it that the champions of the white race are always the worst specimens of it?) I think they were catching on that my sidekick -- a "primitive" I'd been helping -- and I weren't part of their group; I'd used "real world" pop culture lingo at one point, which made them suspicious. But the dream plot shifted away from that meeting before anything bad happened.
By the end of the dream, I was myself, and slipping back into "earth prime" through a portal that led to my department at school. In the portal I was surprised to see one of my professors; turns out he'd been traveling to alternate earths for years in order to plagiarize academic books that hadn't been published yet in our timeline.
Huh.

Must.... finish.... paper. At least a full draft I can show to advisor man tomorrow before I catch my flight to the Buckeye State. There's only room for about 500 more words, so you'd *think* that wouldn't be so very hard. But the problem is not filling up the word count (I have to keep it at a certain length so I don't go over my time slot at the conference); rather, it's filling up the word count with worthwhile material.
Too bad I can't nip over to an alternate earth where I've already written the damn thing and borrow a copy from myself. But then I'd probably have to fight Nazis, and that would be time-consuming.
