Tolkien and skis
Mar. 11th, 2003 12:09 pmHaving realized this weekend (with the input of him whose regular nickname congenially follows "X-Ray" when he wears a particular t-shirt of his that portrays the skeletal underpinnings of the human torso) that we have had the power all along to hook up the iBook to the television by means of certain cunning cables already in our possession, J. and I watched the extended version of "The Fellowship of the Ring" last night on DVD.
We have the opportunity as well to see "The Two Towers" again on the Silver Screen later this week at a cinema in neighboring Beverly, well decorated with neoclassical designs and haunted by magicians. That's kind of a time-suck, though, as the weekend will be largely unproductive: we'll be up in northern Vermont with J.'s family, staying in a condo at a ski resort provided for our use free of charge thanks to the power of Travel Writing.
I've never skied before, and I'm not sure I'm about to start, but it's an option for the weekend in a way that, for instance, diligent attention to one's studies may well not be.
Oh, glad several of you liked the Lovecraft plot summary.
