Recent past
So the main thing is that J. isn't in danger of an instant embolism at any moment, which on Thursday evening and part of Friday was a possible concern. A doctor she was seeing for a separate and considerably less alarming matter thought she (the doctor) found evidence that (1) either this was a potential problem (2) or else there was nothing wrong whatsoever.

Luckily, it was the latter.

So that just left the entirely unrelated problems (more than one) with the car, requiring two visits to mechanics with a third yet to come.

The weekend was spent trying unsuccessfully to make up for lost study and sleep time from the events of Thursday and Friday and also not driving anywhere more distant than the supermarket, lest part of the undercarriage fall off or the radiator overheat. That means we missed a party we wanted to go to, but I had a terrible headache all that day anyway.

Saturday and Sunday nights at least had something of a Milla film festival, watching "The Messenger" and "Resident Evil," both of which are okay if you have some project (perennial favorites include: laundry folding, clipping articles or recipes from magazines that are destined to be thrown away, looking up a list of foreign-language words from that one foreign-language article, creating new D&D villains) with which to occupy yourself during the boring parts.
