It's fingerless-glove day again here at the office. On the plus side, though, I needn't bother going all the way to the kitchenette to put my lunch in the refrigerator.

Got my first 419 scam-mail in French:

So that's cool. But the air temperature is cooler.

I always treasure new innovations in 419 scams that reach me. I keep thinking when I have the time, I will invent some fantasy in return, and entertain a 419er for a while.

Poor Wolfie has pipe-freezing problems! But you will not be surprised to hear that he's more worried about the folder he can't find.

Turns out it was a manila folder, not a blue one as he had been thinking, and it was in a briefcase, not a plastic bag. So all is well.

Are you usually on the grounds of BU? If so, we should lunch sometime!

An excellent plan! I'm here three days a week, in an ever-changing pattern, depending on whether *this* week I think long weekends or having two days at home back-to-back are beneficial to my dissertation-writing or else make me feel safe in goofing off for the first day or so.

But it's nice to have a flexible schedule.

Every now and then I will go and read websites where people have done just that, and I am amused.

I haven't broken out the gloves yet, but I am wearing a hood. It's 63° in here.

Cool! I haven't figured out my schedule exactly yet since I have some time before being plagued with my discussions. We should reconvene after next week and form a plan:)

Sorry for showing my ignorance, but what is 419 scam-mail?

Those spam messages that say "DEAR FRIEND, I AM ROBERT MSEKE, A BARRISTER FROM NIGERIA REPRESENTING A TRAGIC WIDOW, AND IF YOU HELP ME TRANSFER $500,000,000 TO A BANK ACCOUNT IN YOUR COUNTRY YOU WILL GET 20%" and so on. "419," I am told, is the number of the law or section of the penal code or something in Nigeria that concerns such scams.

63! A tropical paradise! I brought work with me last night so I could stay home today and enjoy such a temperature.

That's what the thermostat in the other room says, as it cruelly defies our requests to produce any heat whatsoever. I think my actual office is a bit chillier, what with having a window and no radiators. You have to love BU- the AC breaks every summer, and the heat breaks every winter.

Your office has quite large windows, though, doesn't it?

Nice big windows with broken panes and a bad seal around the edge. And yet bars, so I can't get out if there's a fire.

(Now that it is after that week and then some)

I work next on Friday, and then some days or other next week...

Friday might be a bit crazy for me. What are your Tuesday/ Thursdays like usually? I have a class from 1-2 MWF, cutting in to ideal lunch time (although not necessarily prohibiting it. A late lunch is European and sophisticated, no?). Next week?

Thursday should be fine next week; Tuesday happens to be a little trickier (but isn't regularly). My schedule changes around a lot, but I can just say "I'm working on campus on Thursday" and so it shall be.

Groovy. I'm out of class-related stuff at noon on Thursdays, so anytime after that is grand.
