So yesterday J.'s work computer was in the shop and she wasn't sure what to do, as all of her most pressing work involved using it. She ended up taking the afternoon off.
Today I came into work, after a quick stop at Filene's Basement to buy some new gloves (lost one of my old pair), to see that my computer, which was working fine last Wednesday, today cannot find its startup device and refuses to start up from a CD. I expect it needs professional help. And, of course, all the pressing work I need to do today and in fact this week, which involves editing things and printing them out and sending them well overdue to our publishers, requires that computer.
These X-terminals in the library are of little help.
Well, I can't stay here all day. I guess I'll go file or something. And perhaps I should follow J's lead and just go home.
