(no subject)

For some reason "Electric Avenue" is stuck in my head, or whatever the song's actual title might be.

Here I am at work again. Hooray, hooray. Until boss-man gets done with his unnecessary research, there's not much for me to do. Probably he will show up this afternoon with 10 more handwritten pages of additions to someone else's article that I should type, but until then the best I can do is to file a couple of things.

Since I'm bored, I will undertake to answer your questions three (in a first come, first served sort of way).

Oh well. Question time over; no longer in the mood. And no one asked anyway.

In the original Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio show, Arthur Dent meets a woman who uses a crisis simulator to motivate herself.

I have decided that I am at my least productive when I have plenty of time to do something. There hasn't been much to do at the office for weeks; the few things that I do have to do, none of them pressing, have not been done. I am facing another long weekend, since my boss suggests I not come in until Tuesday. I have had plenty of time to do research and writing in the past month. And have done almost none, probably as a result.

Alas.

Of course crisis mode will kick in soon enough, I suppose; if I don't have a prospectus come the end of April, there's a very real chance I will, at the least, lose my stipend for the coming year, which would be bad.

I am stupid.

So while I was sitting around being bored and contemplating procrastination I should have gone to the bank to cash a paycheck and picked up a prepaid T-pass. As I did not think of these things until ten minutes ago, the bank is closed and the appropriate office at BU is likewise closed, so I will have access neither to paycheck nor to T-pass for a couple of days.

And I'll have to pay for at least two commuter train rides that I shouldn't have had to pay for before then.

Blah.

The office with the T-passes was still inhabited, but they had "put them away" for the day and weren't about to do me any favors...

I at least did remember to renew some library books, but I think that ate up all my available memory. I need an upgrade.
