Two different ways to be a "Star Wars" geek, courtesy of livejournal.
1. The Jedi Council. Yikes.
2. The Empire. Heh.

You would think that the Galactic Empire would be much more alarming, but you would be tragically wrong.

At least they're not all Ewok furries or something.

Please don't tell me if there is such a group.

There is really absolutely nothing to do at work.

There is SO nothing to do here. The only possible work I can find is to sort through printouts of calls for papers and conference announcements we've received through mailing lists since June 2000, which might in the next two years result in asking the organizers to write up a conference report for our nonexistent newsletter.

So you can see why it's not gripping me.

So I chose a random journal -- looking around the room, I picked an architectural feature and entered it as the LJ user; my plan was then to jump from Friends page to Friends page until I got back to me. (Yes, this is not an original idea.)

Well, as fate would have it, user "random architectural element" is a real address. Said user is a goth chick, like at least half the people on livejournal. Proceeding from the first page (most recent entries) of each friends page, it took 18 steps to get to me (via [livejournal.com profile] brigid in the last step), going by way of the prettiest people. If I had been going by friends lists on the "user info" pages, I could have done it in 7, thanks to communities.

That nicely killed an hour.

I'm getting paid $13 an hour for this.

I guess I will go get some coffee and then tackle the filing. Sigh.
