Augghh! Someone on one of the academic lists I'm subscribed to on my work account has apparently been away or is new to the list, and is going through a mass of messages and replying to them with one-line comments, quoting the entire previous post each time. He's sent something like 20 of these today. It might be less noticeable, although still obnoxious, if it weren't for the fact that there is almost never any traffic on the aforementioned list.

The author of a new book relevant to my dissertation topic -- a friend of my advisor -- sent me a signed copy unexpectedly. (I focus on this both for its intrinsic coolness and because the package I *have* been expecting, some mail-ordered presents for J.'s birthday this weekend, still has not come.)
---
I tried to watch "Haunted" last night after "Buffy" and found it too slow-moving to hold my interest, despite the fact that James Marsters kept telling me to stay tuned for the appearance on that show of the Goo-Goo Dolls, who, however, also fail to hold my interest.

I like the new bat stamps.
That is all.
