I say this without singling anyone out, for it is ubiquitous:

Maybe it's just the social circles I've run in most of my life, but I've always found Valentine's-Day-Hating much more tedious than the Oppressive Propaganda of the Greeting Card Industry; it's harder to tune out, for one thing.

Just don't acknowledge the day if you hate it! (Easier said than done? Well, even with an awareness of the date and an inundation of advertising, I still almost forgot it was today.)

Letting Valentine's Day get to you is as illogical as celebrating "Holy-ween" or squashing civil liberties in the name of protecting freedom. You're letting the terrorists win.

If you must focus on the day, then think of the post-holiday candy sales that start tomorrow. But too bad it's all Russell Stover crap.

Fanboy addendum, moments later: I wonder why "Angel" didn't deal with Valentine's Day. Isn't that one of Angelus's fave holidays for mayhem?

Now that I've had some time to do some googling, I have found exactly what I needed to fix the problems I was having with my new printer here at work.

According to people posting on numerous Mac-user help forums, informed by HP support, it is this:

If you are using a Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 1200 with a Mac running OS 9, do not be so foolish as to install the printer software from the CD that comes with the printer, even though that is what the instructions suggest you should do.

If you do not make this fatal error, your LaserJet 1200 will work like a charm.
