I had it in my head to write a devastatingly clever Onion-esque piece about how two fictitious Congresspersons had introduced a resolution to send the Statue of Liberty back to France until France was our friend again, and that it's not like freedom-loving Americans had any need for liberty anyway, and that the statue would be replaced with one of some freedom-loving American like Ronald Reagan or Jesus, but instead I think I will post about the dream I had this morning:

I was very eagerly summarizing all 1970s "Superfriends" plots involving the Wonder Twins to J., who, in the dream, had never heard of them.

Oh, and in real life I went to the barbershop and, while waiting for my haircut, read about how (according to Seneca the Younger) the rational divine principle that governs the universe does not really allow bad things to happen to good men, it's just that people are confused about what "bad" is, and that "bad" is really when one allows oneself to be overcome by what are popularly (and mistakenly) called "bad" things, while, by chance, over the barbershop's stereo speakers came a reggae-tinged Gospel song addressing pretty much the same issue from an obviously different standpoint.

Incidentally, the author of the book on Seneca et al. has (also by chance, it is pretty clear) the same name as somebody I remember from elementary school; it amuses me to imagine his having written it.
