I didn't get much done on Friday. I thought I'd put on Cure videos for background music while I studied, with the bonus of being able to pick out a stage of Robert Smith's career that I could approximate with hair and clothing. There was a reason for this, as will be made clear very soon. But I watched the videos more than studying, of course. Then I ran errands in the afternoon -- I needed to buy a cheap fake pearl choker, for instance. The evening was likewise frittered away, except for a virtuous trip to the Y.

Saturday J. and I were equally unproductive as we were both bored by what we *had* to do and kept chatting instead of working, which filled up the time until it was necessary to get ready to leave for Somerville. I assembled the necessary components to my outfit, and we picked out an appropriate big white shirt, grey jacket, and tight jeans for J. and left the house in high spirits.

Route 1A crushed those spirits mercilessly; once we got to the Boston exit, it took about 45 minutes, half of which was spent in a tunnel, to get to Somerville. I was also bummed that I had managed to forget my wallet, wine I had bought the day before to take with me, some photographs I had to return to someone, and half a dozen unwanted CDs I intended to disperse to good and prearranged homes. Spirits were however subsequently revived having dinner with friends; our friend P. teased up J.'s hair to monstrous levels, and then we walked to the evening's main event: a birthday party [livejournal.com profile] mishak had organized for [livejournal.com profile] labellemargaux.

We were all asked to dress as Robert Smith. I had decided I could fairly easily dress as Bob in the "Lovecats" video, and J. was going for roughly this look. (I thought about, but ultimately passed on, shaving.)

The party was nifty, and [livejournal.com profile] goat and I each, to our surprise, made five bucks, and all I had to do was supply the ice, so yay that.

Sunday was spent recovering from the party and reading too little.

The week bodes much busy-ness at home and at work as I struggle to meet school- and work-related deadlines as well as plan for our trip NEXT WEEK. Yikes.
