Mar. 26th, 2002 01:39 pmI pause to cram some mediocre food down my gullet here...
I associate flying with Federal Express. Not because Fed Ex uses planes, though that is of course the obvious connection. No, it seems that almost every time for the last 7 years that I've been about to leave for the airport, I have first had to race against time to finish editing materials for a new issue or to finish correcting proofs for an older one so I can get them Fed Ex'ed to our publishers before I go. It doesn't matter how much time we've been working on such a project, or how far in advance I know I'll be flying on such-and-such a date: invariably I'm rushing to finish up to the point that my boss often pays cab fare for me to the airport so I can leave the office a little later.
I don't know what or whom that is saying something about, but it says it.
Incidentally, I'm working today on BOTH a new issue and proofs for an old one.
