quislibetSpent the weekend camping with S. and P. (and J., of course) up in VT instead of working on my PhD or other abbreviations.
Good time. Also, the campsite was chock full o' raspberry bushes, so we brought home a gallon of berries for nefarious purposes and/or jam. The main downer for the weekend was getting back to the state park after 10 pm Friday night -- we had dinner in town -- and finding that the gate was locked and there was no way to drive in. So we had to park there and walk up the mountain in the moonlight to our site. The next day we learned that the rangers had simply neglected to tell us that the combination was printed on our campground parking permit all along. They gave us some free firewood in recompense.
Penultimate drivers' ed class today. Tomorrow is simply the final exam, which I will take secure in the knowledge that (a) it will probably be fairly easy and (b) if I fail it, I will not legally obligated to repeat the course the way I would be if I were under 18.
I'm so not under 18, so that works out.
Nonetheless, I will study while babysitting the writers' group at the Athenaeum tonight.
My brother, incidentally, took his road test today in Ohio and passed, becoming the first male member of my family in a couple generations to get a driver's license within a few years of the traditional time. (Our dad waited until after our parents' divorce roughly 10 years ago.)
Heh. I said, "male member."
