Last week I received a new CD, and along with it came a catalogue from CD Baby and a sampler with 94 MP3 tracks from various obscure bands in a variety of genres. I just listened to a track by a King-Crimson-influenced world music band called Paranoise (the title track of their album "Ishq") and was struck by the fact that the chorus is apparently the Charm of Making from the 1981 movie Exalibur, quasi-pseudo-Gaelic words which for no good reason have taken up some of my valuable brainspace for over twenty years.

One can listen to (at least part of) the song "Ishq" on the page linked above, and hear Merlin chant the charm by clicking the relevant link on this page.

I'm not sure why you'd need to, but you could.

I haven't decided if I actually like the band or not, but according to the band's site you're either with them or you're with Bush. Hmm.

J. and I drove to Alewife station this morning, as she'll need the car this afternoon. As we walked through the parking area, J., looking around at the blank-faced commuters all heading to the escalators, remarked with justice that it seemed we were in some movie where the undead were heeding the call of the Zombie Master.

Speaking of the undead, who's hosting the Buffy season opener? Something has gone wrong with our cable service, and since we're leaving for the weekend tomorrow it's not likely to get fixed by Tuesday, so we'll have to mooch viewing space from someone.

Or we could go to the "Y," where in the exercise room last night's rerun was being blared over the classic rock.

I'll probably be opening my house up for viewing fun.
I should really get around to posting that.

Excalibur is an excellent use of brainspace! One reason is Sex In Full Plate Armor. The second reason is lines like "Ride! Ride! Your lust will keep you up!"

The first time I saw it on video, I rewound the charm of making bit over and over until I could recite anahl nathrac uthvus bethuud dojhiel dienvie all by myself. Never got any spooky fog for it though.

The Mission sample it too, on the extended remix of "Deliverence".

Buffy hosting? Oooh. I'll volunteer, to pay y'all back for assimilating me into The Buffy.

Ooh, I should have Read More before volunteering. Oops.

Paranoise don't just sample it, they sing it to a jaunty tune.

You and Silas can armwrestle or something.

When is the season opener? I've never watched Buffy with fans any more hardcore than Shelby, I imagine it would be entertaining.

Tuesday, I believe. (And "Angel" opens Oct. 5, I think.)
