J. and I are going out to dinner tonight as this day marks 6 years that we have been a couple. Alas, our last two anniversary dinners were in Paris, but we'll have to settle today for a restaurant that, we realized only after we had chosen it solely for its combination of quality and affordability, is in the same location as the Irish pub, now gone, where we started out that evening six years ago.

Neat.

Anyway. Last night I dreamed that I was Gollum, and that the government sent Tommy Lee Jones after me. I think that was a separate dream from the one where my brother kept making me drink shots of Scope and vanilla extract, or the one in which J. and I were house-sitting for [livejournal.com profile] amberspyglass, whom I do not actually know outside the livejournal environment and who was, by the nature of a house-sitting situation, not ever present, so that we got around the problem of whether my subconscious mind would have envisioned her as a floating calligraphic "A" or not.

ASG, I think all of the cats we hatched from the cat-eggs might have done some damage to the furniture. Sorry.

It's snowing.

Did you try to make the date of your marriage coincide at all with your relationship anniversary? Keeping track of two different dates would just be daunting.

There was a rather amusing couple of minutes the other day where J. and I were each trying unsuccessfully to trick the other into mentioning the exact date, as neither of us could remember it precisely (as it has been a few years since we have celebrated it on the day itself). ("So what day does it fall on this year?" "Well, the first is Tuesday..." [long pause] "Yeah, okay..." [long pause].) Finally we just had to come out and mutually confess in order to get anywhere, and then we figured it out.

Yup, that's exactly why we did it! It worked out well too since for many things April is still considered a "winter" month, so we got discounts galore on wedding stuff (saving thousands of dollars just for taking a risk on the weather).

I'm not sure of the exact date we started dating other than it was early April of 95 (gods I feel old!) and was a Saturday night at MR (we had been flirting for a bit and finally when he wouldn't make a move I just pounced instead - it was so not like me at all!). We actually had our first kiss at Nick/Atlas and Percey's apartment over near Tufts U (I think that was in Dataspace days still, before the Netgoth list began). The two of them have found that fact very amusing :)

The 10th of April was chosen as a wedding date because it was:
-After Easter
-Didn't conflict with Convergence
-The Reception hall was available (originally we were going for 4/17)

I didn't know that you guys had been together for so long (yay!). Enjoy your dinner, tell J I said hi (and here's to many more happy years!).
