As predicted, J. and I went to see "X2" last night at the Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers. We went early, anticipating long "Matrix"-related lines. But the ticket line was surprisingly nonexistent, although indeed, the "Matrix" fans were there in the lobby -- we could pick them out by sight, at least the ones with long dark coats, all Corey Hart as to the sunglasses.

Not that I have anything against the aesthetic, of course; I had a long dark coat on as well. But I try to tell myself it's different, somehow: for instance, I had a green shirt on. Dark green, but still.

Hey, at least I didn't have any sunglasses on, okay?

As J. pointed out, individually they would have been fine, but standing together like that just set off "dork" alarms. "And there's something about standing around in the mall," she said, "that inhibits coolness."

And then there was the strange parade of people in red Atari t-shirts we saw leaving the mall as we arrived...

My own coolness suffered a blow when a pulled a muscle between my right ear and jaw chewing on an unexpectedly hard caramel during the movie. Nothing too crunchy or chewy for me today.

Oh -- "X2" was fun. There were some parts that didn't make as much sense as they could have, especially at the end, but what can you do?

They have to be setting up for an X3 - The Dark Phoenix.

Me? - I just want some Gambit. it would make me VERY happy. *silly grin*

yeah, I HAD seen a picture, once, and he does have a credit, except he's some nameless stuntman. Oh well, I'll probably get a fix on the DVD.

And I LOVED Nightcrawler! I didn't expect but he's so soft and furry and nice!

I don't expect anything that would make the comic geeks happy, tho, they've already deviated from the mythology way too much to go back. *sigh*

Phoenix aside, it just seemed as though Storm and Iceman could have done something about the rushing water, possibly with Grey's telekinetic help, that would have given them time to get outta there without anyone dying.

But whatever.

Also, showing up en masse all spooky-like, with Nightcrawler even, in the Oval Office would not have convinced ME that mutants weren't a danger, whether they had exculpatory paperwork I didn't have time to read or not. Possibly they meant to convey a comforting "we could take you if we wanted to, and so see? we don't want to," but I dunno...

Yep, but they she can't "rise from the dead" in the next one, all Phoenix-like. I would NOT have done it, and it's quite the unbelieveable vehicle, but I'll be OK with it as long as I get a lot of Phoenix ass whupping in the next movie.

And yes, the last scene wigged me out too. I'm actually thinking the president is ALSO a mutant, but, hey, that's just me.
