Studiously avoiding the interview meme, because I already spend too much time with livejournal. Alas.

Went to Old Sturbridge Village yesterday, meeting some friends from Providence there. It was wicked rainy all day, but worse than that was the fact that all of the costumed interpreters were baking bread in brick ovens and stuff whereas our onsite lunch consisted of crappy cafeteria food. I would be pleased if they could serve the food the interpeters cook in 1830s fashion, but I expect there are 21st-century health and liability issues (tediously enough).

I got a PB&J on stale sliced bread with the idea that everything would be mediocre at best, so I might as well go for the two-dollar option. This seems, to judge from the lunches of my companions, to have been rather wise.

Otherwise, it was a good time. I even drove there, my longest extended bout of highway driving, which is still not very long, I admit.

Next time we shall either pack a picnic (not that that would have worked well yesterday) or eat in their more expensive restaurant, which to judge from the menu is only marginally more expensive, has better-sounding food, and even has a few attempts at more period food.

The evenings have been spent watching French movies while working on a Mage game prop (the Confusatron!). J. pays more attention to the French, as she will have to speak it more or less exclusively for about 5 weeks starting Sunday. Last night, "Revenge of the Musketeers," featuring an intentionally silly story, swashbuckling adventure, and Sophie Marceau's breasts.

As usual, I realize that I'm just not groovin' to the Sleep Chamber. I guess one or more of those es should have been 3s.
