Jun. 23rd, 2003 11:49 amMy alarm went off this morning at 7:30; I turned it off and woke up again just after 8:50; my train was at 9:13; the walk to the train station takes roughly 10-12 minutes.
I made it, at the cost of buying breakfast at the Espresso Royale here across the street ($2.10 for a hekla cinnamon roll, to be precise).
At the cafe there is a bookshelf where one can exchange used books. I picked up Anne Rice's Blood and Gold for mindless train reading. I passed on a chance to read it once before when my brother loaned it to me a year ago or so, but it was in an inconvenient hardcover edition, and I was sure that the Roman history parts would vex me. They probably still will, but at least it weighs less.
Whoever owned the book before me apparently did not read it with pride, as the cover and spine are stickered over with blank priority mail labels.
