social weekend
Jun. 29th, 2003 08:10 pmMy MBTA bad luck struck again yesterday, in a different way: deep into the wilds of Medford I got off a bus at the stop nearest the site of
ta_chuang's going-away party, seeing the landmark sooner than expected. In the rush to exit the bus, however, I seem to have left behind the piece of paper with the directions, the phone number, and the address of the location.
Fortunately, a friendly convenience-store person let me use the phone there to call first directory assistance, then the host.
The party itself was totally "tubular," if that's the word I want, even if the reason for it is a bummer; I got to see many fine persons I have not seen in the Realms of Flesh for many moons. Obviating the need for further tangling with the MBTA,
futurenurselady kindly drove me home;
mr_sarcasm caravaned up with us and we all had a pleasant dorky chat with spiked coffee beverages here in the Witch City.
Friday night was likewise social, as I met (huh, everyone has journals)
futurenurselady,
xanyboi,
ahaseurus,
frederic, and
dirtyknees at a local Irish pub; after we had drunk our fill we watched "Preaching to the Perverted."
The week ahead has a few impending social occasions, thanks to the holiday, strawberry season, bad Lovecraft movies, and a Dresden Dolls show. And in a week and a half I fly out to meet J. in Lyon!
Today I learned that there are no convenient websites listing addresses of producers of the raw-milk cheese Vacherin du Haut-Doubs (aka Mont d'Or, but not to be confused with the Swiss pasteurized Vacherin Mont d'Or from across the border). Sad but true.
I had an excellent salad from the backyard garden tonight and you didn't.
The rest of the evening: an attempt to study, and a bedtime earlier than the 4 AM of the last two nights.
(Happy birthday to
dancer!)
