Bold Snatch
Jul. 1st, 2003 08:32 amA headline in today's Metro proclaimed, "Fla. Girl Taken in Bold Snatch." Now, not only does that sound like the subject line of an unsolicited e-mail advertisement that I would delete unread, but in fact the kidnappers took a girl AND a boy. What is up with that?
As I read the aforementioned paper on the subway today, a woman across the aisle was staring at me with what I took to be open hostility. Either she is just naturally hateful, or her face has frozen that way, or she disapproves of reading, or, finally, she had me pegged for the sort of person whose first reaction upon reading an article about kidnapped toddlers is to make fun of the headline.
