my commute was full of aimless meandering IN THE GODDAMN WAY tourists.

Also, why is it that there is an entire platform full of people waiting for a train, people will ask _me_ for directions even though I quite clearly have headphones in my ears and many if not most of the other people standing around do not?

I did not see midgets. But maybe I did not notice them if they did not ask me for directions.

Possibly they interpret headphones to mean that you are comfortable with your surroundings and knowledgeable about the subway system, as you clearly won't be listening for stop announcements.

I did think of that--that wearing headphones marks me as a resident somehow. Still, those sorts of questions are what the information booth is for...

The other day someone blocked the one remaining open door of the train to ask someone else if it went to such-and-such a place; apparently it didn't. This transaction took just long enough that the door closed right behind the questionee when he got on; my foot would have been caught in the door had I been in the act of stepping.

(This was one of three times this week a door has closed in my face.)

And then... and THEN... the questioner turned to ME and continued the query. He said he needed an E train in the context of his question, so it wasn't entirely clear what he was asking me. I assured him he was in the right place, because I am a great-souled superior being.

OMG, I yelled "Get out of my goddamn way," about 60 times this morning during my commute. Of course, I was alone, in my car; but still.

Traffic southbound on 93 and rt.24 was absolutely chock-full of SUVs and minivans driving 68 mph in the extreme left-hand lane, and trucks pulling boats and pop-up trailers driving 55 mph in the middle lane (traffic on those routes usually hauls at 75mph). Very, very frustrating.

it would have been really funny if you had been on the T yelling that. I was pretty tempted to do that myself this morning ;-)
