The chemistry between Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn in Charade is much better than that between Cary Grant and Grace Kelly in To Catch A Thief, if you wish to have the low-down on movies recently aired on AMC in which Cary Grant plays a duplicitous good guy in 1960s France.

And I am sure that you do.

Last night we made(*1) our version of "that one Vietnamese dish with the rice noodles and the thinly sliced grilled pork marinated in lemongrass and stuff served cold," or bun thit nuong, although the recipe we have, which differs in specifics from the version available at Pho Pasteur, has a different name which I cannot quite bring to mind. But it is a tasty thing indeed, whatever it's called.

I talked to my brother last night, who has been running a d20 Star Wars campaign for our stepbrothers and their little friends. Naturally the archvillain is a Dark Jedi Gungan; his commitment to gamemastering is such that he will make himself watch all of the Jar-Jar scenes again to get the speech style right.

I guess I was ahead of my time when, ca. 1980 or so, I let Trent from the house across the alley play Han Solo as a neutral good thief (the only way I could get him to play D&D at all). I limited his blaster to the same damage as a crossbow or something(*2). We never did feel the need to explain why Han Solo was dungeon-crawling with an elf and so forth.

(*1) Or, more precisely, J. had mostly made it by the time I got home; my contribution was chopping cilantro and mint. Hooray for me that J.'s favorite form of procrastination is culinary.

(*2) I understand that it's 3d8 in the d20 rules.
