ms_ntropy and couplingchaos just unexpectedly graced my drab office with their fair countenances for a few minutes.
I must now write a "what the hell do you want us to do *that* for?" note to one of our journal contributors, which is less interesting than it sounds, and that's written in the full understanding that it might not actually sound interesting to you at all.
Also, the department chair has waved some magic wands, and it looks like I'm tuition-free for another year and possibly will even get free health insurance. That'd be keen.
