Mr. Sarcasm suggested writing this..

Last time I tried to do a meme, it was one I saw on amberspyglass's journal about how one met all of the people on one's friends list. Proceeding alphabetically, I got as far as "E" and then realized it was going to take me for-fucking-ever, and that there were really only so many ways to say "we met through a mailing list / in a Vampire LARP," so I never posted it.

This one's easier.

Five "bits of weirdness." In some of what follows, I or another person are weird. In others, it is the situation.

1. When I was a lad of about 11, I had a paper route. Our family having just become involved in the SCA, there was a period during which I carried a plastic sword around with me, saluting passing cars with it. This did not add to my popularity among my peers.

2. At a somewhat earlier age, a neighborhood friend had me more or less convinced that Steve Austin (the Six Million Dollar Man; not that wrestler guy) lived in our 'hood, but was invisible. I was very concerned for him that one time Steve was badly hurt and lay recovering on the sliding board.

3. One of my high school friends lived in a haunted house (classic built-over-the-Indian-burial stuff). I have a vague memory that the alleged ghost interfered with a D&D game of ours one night, but details are hazy.

4. One night when I was home from college, staying up to watch cable television after everyone else was asleep, I became suddenly very sure that the family cat wanted to hurt me. This is, of course, one of two cats that my mom believed was acting under orders from Hell a couple of years later. Not as in "that cat sure has the devil in it, ha ha ha," but as in "I must abandon my home to their baleful influence and live in a friend's place that I'm taking care of for him while he's out doing the Lord's work."

5. I once participated in a serious but unsuccessful attempt to levitate a table. This was not at a slumber party with fellow teens, but involved my parents and a respectable conservative family we knew from the Lutheran church.
