Someone just sent me a link to the Greek translation of "Baby Got Back," knowing only that I was a classics geek who might appreciate such things. So far no one has forwarded me the link to my own journal yet, though.

(Hi, Constance!)

It's what happens when one lives multiple lives with overlapping interests.

One of the early commenters on my translation wished someone would do a Greek one, and so a later reader did:

But my browser cannot read the fiery letters.

Yup. And fark, I understand. That's why I figured it was only a matter of time before someone who knows me, but not my journal, would forward me one or the other.

The whole thing is bizarre, really.

Weird...

I have nothing else to add, so I answer your reptile with another.

it's everywhere. google search the first line or "baby got back" "latin translation" or any variation of that & you'll find it all over. even on some seriously conservative political websites where they then populate their own comment sections w/photos of j-lo's "back".

Yeah, I saw that one! Right next to "Save Rush!" threads.

Dude! You've updated your Latin for Gamers site (http://www.geocities.com/quislibet2003/gamers/latin1.html) and didn't tell me! You are a god, if a cruel one.

I still think you ought to write an entry for mors, mortis, by the way. (I seem to remember that's one of the very first things I ever wrote in your journal, however many moons ago.)

P.S.: One of the "next" links at the bottom of the first page doesn't work, though the other one is fine.

Actually all I really did was to move it to a new geocities site; it hasn't been updated except for changing the links to reflect their new environment. (I'll fix the one you mention; thanks.)

But I am an hour or so of dissertation-avoiding work away from having a third page that starts off, as per your suggestion of a while back, with mors (I began it back then, and left it unfinished until about a week ago), and a bit further away from a fourth page that makes fun of slected World of Darkness Latin, which I'll have done, uh, some time before White Wolf ends the setting next year. When those are done I'll mention it here.

That's right! That was yours! I remember when...

I'll remember not to forward it to you. Or else make sure to do so. One or the other.

Last week someone forwarded me (via this journal) a link to my old geocities site, so that was fun.

(P.S. If you and D. are bored tomorrow, come by our place -- we'll be out in the yard all day trying to get people to buy our castoff knick-knacks and old Cleopatra comps.)

It was because of that post in your journal that I added you as a friend. Though I'm more into the latin version myself. You had to know that it would come back to you eventually.

Anyway, welcome!

Yeah, and I had been reading you before Fark through burkean, and then I saw the Fark thing it was like, "that's it, on the friends list!"
haha

It's really very strange to me that it got so widely linked to.

Oh well, back to real life.
