-- Weekend: one visit with friends in Somerville, one John Malkovich sighting (in Harvard Square), one good LARP, one surprise visit from Other_HBK and Futurenurselady, a couple of hours in the Peabody Essex Museum (with some cattiness, as J. feels they have moved away from at least occasionally presenting a cultural context for objects to become just another "ooh, shiny" art museum),and a bit of study. We had to miss, in three separate venues, Ron Jeremy and the Dresden Dolls' celebration of a local sex-toy store, Dirty Batman, and La Belle Margaux's amazing flying pastie, but one can do and see only so much.

-- I'm getting tired of reading in my inbox that some woman or other I don't know is a pee fanatic.

-- J. reports having overheard the other night an apparently non-ironic conversation between two people trying to figure out what the difference was between Mounds and Almond Joy.

-- Finally, there's a new section up in my Latin for Gamers series. It's a long one, and I may split it in half, but not today. I welcome your input. -- Still a geocities page, but plans are afoot to change that.

I love the Latin for Gamers! I've studied Greek magic quite a bit and might be able to add some, if you'd like - at least if there is a Roman Egyptian component... Were ahoroi common in Roman necromancy? I don't recall...

Were ahoroi common in Roman necromancy?

Alas, I don't know so much about ancient necromancy at all, and just had to look up "ahoroi." (Those are the "untimely dead," right?) If there's a specific technical Latin equivalent I don't know it, other than to look up "untimely" in the Latin dictionary...

At any rate, if you have things to add, that would be swell! The next part will be largely a big ol' mess of vocabulary (English to Latin), compiling all of what has come before and adding more useful words (I haven't provided "bat" or "sadness" yet!), but somehow stopping short of putting down everything or providing a course on ancient ideas about what we call the Supernatural.

of course everyone knows what the difference is; sometimes you feel like a nut, and sometimes you don't!

J. refrained from singing at them.

It's more than a nut thing. Mounds has dark chocolate and Almond Joy has milk chocolate. Plus, the weight of the almonds detracts from coconut-to-chocolate ratio since both bars weigh the same (assuming that there's the same amount of chocolate on each).

I had no idea it was such a complex issue!

Not a problem at all. So far geocities seems to be holding up just fine; I haven't got any "hey, you bastard! what's up with the bandwidth?" messages from them the way I used to on my LARP site when I was actually running an active game, so maybe they've just managed to improve their technology to the point that more than one person can view a site per week.
