Cirque du Soleil, Saltimbanco soundtrack, track 6, "Urgence"

The 80s stylings of this instrumental piece prompted the following brief conversation a few hours ago:

Me: I can almost see the credits!
J. ... It could also be the scene where he or she pulls him- or herself together and puts on freakish finery, getting ready to go and show those stuck up kids once and for all.
Me: Exactly!
J:... or it could be a montage.
Me: Yeah.
J.: But it would still have to be one of those pulling-yourself-together scenes, after the character has been beaten down. ... I don't think it would work for a sports movie, though -- but I can see the single working mother with two kids, defiantly pounding the pavement...
Me: ...for a job interview!
J.: Yeah.
Me: ...or to collect enough signatures...
J: ...to ban the... whatever.
Me: Right!
[pause]
J.: But it doesn't sound like acrobats at all.

*pulls out the disc out of curiosity*

Oh, yes. I remember this act. They looked more like body builders than acrobats, and their costumes were red, white, and blue if I remember correctly. It seemed patriotic to me, which strikes me as odd, but I guess those are France's colors as well. I don't remember where the performers were from.
Very American Gladiators feel to the performance though.

Oh! I meant to mention that the act was showcasing their strength, not flexibility. They were doing hand balancing and stuff.

Cool! Thanks. I haven't seen that one (only, in fact, have seen Quidam, but I mean to see more as time and money permit).

The Cirque du Soleil is a Canadian troupe but they may just have been trying to push the patriotic buttons of an American audience. Although blue, white and red are also patriotic colours for all Commonwealth countries, including Canada, because they are the colours of the Union Jack.

Ah! I didn't know that they are the colors of the Union Jack. I just remembered that the Canadian flag didn't have any blue on it.
It's entirely possible that they had different color costumes depending on which country they were in. I hadn't thought of that before.
