Quick update

quislibetI'm having one of those tedious days at work when there are lots of piles of things to do and they're all in one another's way and I don't know where to put things; and when the boss alternates between interrupting me every couple of minutes and disappearing when I need his input.
Or, to look at it another way, I suppose, I'm having one of those days when that all-too-usual state of affairs is bothering me.
In other news:
- I have not yet been able to drink that champagne, but the imaginary deadline at least got me writing something. It's pages and pages and pages on what was supposed to be a minor point, and the rest of the chapter is still untouched, so that's kind of a problem, but I like to pretend it's better than nothing. I wish I'd been done on the 5th, though, because then I might have been able to attend some parties Saturday night instead of sitting staring at my screen wondering whether the paragraph I just wrote really belonged there or should be moved a few pages away, or spending a half an hour tracking something down with the result that I could add something like "and also Shotter 1989" to a footnote. (That's my weekend in a nutshell.)
- In April I plan to satisfy my morbid curiosity about gaming conventions, and accordingly I have submitted not one but two different vampire characters in rapid succession, reducing the damage to "Consuela" time thanks to recycling one old character background and making the second one an amnesiac. I expect the first one, as a relatively weak obnoxious anarch, will probably be killed as soon as he steps away from his powerful friends, so I'll need a backup character for the rest of the weekend.
- That gaming convention weekend happens to coincide with J.'s and my 7th anniversary -- but she has horrible prelim exams just two days later and says it's just as well I'll be out of the house. We'll celebrate later in the week. (It breaks even; in other years we have celebrated a few days early because we could, e.g., avail ourselves of Parisian restuarants.)

yuki_onna's quaestorship and (2) discovering, to my horror, an Anne McCaffrey-inspired human-on-dragon slash website written in Latin. (It's only a dream. Only a dream.)
