To celebrate St. Patrick's Day, I listened to Flogging Molly, the Pogues, and the Dropkick Murphys while typing. And I wore a Guinness t-shirt. Woo-hoo!

The Salem Athenaeum has an Edward Gorey exhibit up through April 2nd; it's worth a look if you happen to be in town (but maybe not worth a special trip). (The Athenaeum is at 337 Essex Street, open Tues, Wed, and Fri from 1-5, Thurs from 5-9, and Sat 10-2; it's open to the public for free to look around and stuff, but actually checking out books requires a paid membership.)

While working there last night I photocopied a page of a cookbook Gorey illustrated with a picture two bats carrying a pie.

This morning I saw a man at the bus stop walk about 20 feet to shove his empty paper coffee cup behind a stone pillar. Much closer to where he had been standing, in the other direction, was a garbage can.

(Then he walked up to me and soon was telling me about his criminal record.)

One of J.'s students (she's a TA) wrote in a paper that de jure segregation should be "irradiated."

Speaking of: Here is the most forceful argument against gay marriage yet.

Golly! I never new I was demon posessed. Shouldn't I be getting some kool powerz out of this deal? Like at the very least the ability to spin my head 360 degrees? I mean, it wouldn't be too useful, but it would make a great party trick.

I know, that's so coool!! We should hold workshops to explore our latent inner demonic powers. I'd really like to fly. Or maybe turn invisible at will.

Some people are just born bad.

So, if gays are possessed by demons - then, banning their practices (as it were) would be impeding on their religious rights, wouldn't it? o.o

Hah.

Mmm. Irradiated.

Now, I know that the rightist radicals are a great bastion of political support and all, but sooner or later someone has got to concede that they're just bad press. I mean, c'mon... what politician in his right mind would want to admit to caving to pressure from Demon Boy? At that point, you might as well just say that you vote on all important social issues after consulting entrails in a cave under the state house.
