To celebrate St. Patrick's Day, I listened to Flogging Molly, the Pogues, and the Dropkick Murphys while typing. And I wore a Guinness t-shirt. Woo-hoo!
The Salem Athenaeum has an Edward Gorey exhibit up through April 2nd; it's worth a look if you happen to be in town (but maybe not worth a special trip). (The Athenaeum is at 337 Essex Street, open Tues, Wed, and Fri from 1-5, Thurs from 5-9, and Sat 10-2; it's open to the public for free to look around and stuff, but actually checking out books requires a paid membership.)
While working there last night I photocopied a page of a cookbook Gorey illustrated with a picture two bats carrying a pie.
This morning I saw a man at the bus stop walk about 20 feet to shove his empty paper coffee cup behind a stone pillar. Much closer to where he had been standing, in the other direction, was a garbage can.
(Then he walked up to me and soon was telling me about his criminal record.)
One of J.'s students (she's a TA) wrote in a paper that de jure segregation should be "irradiated."
Speaking of: Here is the most forceful argument against gay marriage yet.
