Feb. 14th, 2002 03:47 pmGrr. Just wasted far too much time trying to act on a random whimsical notion to get a paid LJ account. I expect the whimsy will be all gone by the time I get answers to my "Help" questions from both LJ and PayPal.
Are the servers really that much better?
In other news, last night J. and I went to the Hernandez Cultural Center in the South End to see the "Big B.R.A. Show," a burlesque variety show by the Burlesque Revival Association. What could be better than drag queens in a pie fight, or strip ballet to a medley of "Annie" tunes? Not to mention a puppet show that mocked vampire-wannabe goths.
They're performing again in May; we'll probably go if we can.
I vaguely recognized people from clubs in the audience, but the only person I outright knew was the Mighty Cusraque, whom I have not seen for a long time because I haven't been clubbing in over a year. We chatted with him at the intermission; he summarized upcoming Hell skits and urged us to come out soon.
Some people sitting behind us noted his presence as well, although they had never seen him before; J. tells me (I was getting drinks) that they had pegged him for a "queeah." (These same guys weren't enjoying the ridiculous performances; maybe they were expecting a real strip show with nipples and everything - I dunno; in any case they didn't stay after intermission.)
I suppose I should try to accomplish something today more than cleaning my desk and washing dishes -- although I'm glad those are done.
