I'm currently on hold to arrange my flight to France with British Airways, which internet searches have confirmed will likely give me the best price. But I can't book online because I have to settle the issue of taking two cats with me. BA's pet hotline guy assures me that all I have to do is mention it when booking, and, since the UK is not my destination, there will be nothing else required in the way of regulations and paperwork. I'll believe that when it happens, though, as nothing has been easy ---
AND it's not. Just spoke to a human. Apparently I have to buy the ticket before they can confirm whether I can travel with pets, and so there's no way for me to know. And since I need to travel with pets, I'd rather find an airline where I can know for sure.
Well. Imagine a string of particularly vile expletives here.
I will skip the list of bureaucracy problems we've been having, as they would only bore you and enrage me to the point of not being able to cope with my day's work, but suffice it to say that among the things still unsettled include (a) whether we will be legally permitted to reside in France for a year and (b) whether Brown U.'s "human subjects" oversight board, which seems to have no grasp of anthropological methodology, will permit J. to embark on her project at all.
