I have a strange Beatles/Marillion medley in my head today.

J. and I spent a few hours expanding the garden yesterday. So much soil. I felt like I was in a One Of Us song.

I have finally succumbed to reading "Harry Potter," since J. bought a copy of the British edition of the first one at Keflavik airport for something to read. It's cute so far. But I can't help wondering if Rowling knew DC Vertigo's "Books of Magic." No doubt the topic has come up before, somewhere.

There are a couple of articles online that ask Neil Gaiman (http://www.januarymagazine.com/profiles/gaiman.html) and Peter Gross (http://www.holycow.com/dreaming/discuss/963374603,79109,.asp) about perceived similarities between Books of Magic and Potter, and both of them sort of shrugged and said, "Hey, it's a coming-of-age tale with magic. Nothing new, there."
