quislibetSo having a new effective prospectus deadline of September plus running an impending LARP game in a few weeks equals not getting much studying and writing done. But I did do this. That's important, right?
But this weekend I will see what I can do to remedy that. J. is off to NH to visit her grandmother, and she suggested I might take a weekend of solitude to try to get work done rather than come along. Much as I'd like to wish the old lady well, that's not a bad idea.
I should be getting an extra paycheck today. At least I had better, as I was banking on it -- almost literally, until I realized there was a delay -- two weeks ago. It's not really "extra" -- it's a lump sum that represents the difference between my official stipend, unchanged and apparently unchangeable since 1995, and the somewhat higher amout my boss wants me to be paid. This additional money comes from our selling German encyclopedias. (No, really.) The university wasn't going to cut me the check until August, though, even though that's not what we told them to do and not what they've done in the past. I really hope that it has been straightened out...
