Yesterday evening, contemplating how much she hated wearing rain-soaked clothes to a point, she said, beyond rationality, J. asked me, "If you were a character in Amelie, what likes and dislikes would you be introduced with?"

It was hard to think of some that were quirky enough to fit the film -- I mean, sure, I hate it when buses are late, I like eating ice cream -- but those didn't seem right. Closer: I dislike beard hairs that have grown thick and sharp. I like selecting clothes to pack for travel.

I'll have to ponder a better answer.

Regina likes the noise that snow makes under your feet when it's very cold, and also likes the noise that car tires make on the rubber tracks of the Green Line Comm Ave crossings when it is raining.

Regina dislikes it when the different kinds of food on her plate run into each other.
