Oct. 28th, 2002 11:03 amMore or less recovered today, although a bit headachey. But that often happens from just sleeping in an uncomfortable position. Guess I should get me one o' them special-shaped pillows. (*)
I found myself contemplating the memory of the very first time I drank too much beer. It was in college, when I didn't even particularly like beer. For some reason I chose to go to a hippie party in a local cornfield sponsored by the coed hippie "frat" and like-minded groups from other northern Ohio liberal arts colleges. For ten bucks you could drink as much un-brand beer as you liked from a sort of tanker truck. I had a McDonald's SuperSize cup with me and filled it at least six times. Some terrible bands were playing on a temporary stage. There weren't enough port-a-potties and so people were wandering into the corn to pee, although you had to be careful not to step on the people having sex, which might have been vaguely titillating, I suppose, were my vision not too blurry to make out the making-out.
I think on the whole I didn't have fun that night, and I had to work in
the brightly-lit dining hall serving squishy scrambled eggs to people the next morning.
Anyway. Flogging Molly show tonight at the Roxy. Probably won't have a beer there, though, nor for a few days at least. Must figure out what to wear. I don't want to be a poser punk or anything. (**) I dread the opening act, which
heatray has warned me will suck like a great sucking thing. To that end I shall call the club to see if I can find out exactly when the headliners will be on, and then J. and I can linger over our cheap and tasty Vietnamese sandwiches that we intend to purchase before the show.
Finally, I ended up watching some of "Charmed" last night for the first time ever. It was slightly better than I feared, but only just. The reason I saw it at all is that we turned on the telly to watch "Angel," but had forgotten all about the turn-back-the-clock thing.

(*) You know, the anatomically correct ones.
(**) At Religious Sex in NYC last weekend there was an overpriced, pre-ripped, pre-safety-pinned white t-shirt pre-printed with the "Circle A" symbol. How lazy do you have to be?
