I'm still waiting to get my prospectus draft back, dammit. But the advisor is dealing with health concerns of his aged and ailing parents, especially a father who calls from Germany several times a day with delusional complaints. Ugh.

Anyway.

I'm not at my best at the moment. Robitussin, take me away! At least I seem not to have strep throat, which afflicted J. last week, although it is possible that university health services will call me today and inform me otherwise, or at least they might if I am not tying up the phone line with the modem all day.

Saturday was the Arcanum LARP, which rocked thanks especially to Sarcy and MarvyToy. Several good breakthroughs (breaks-through?) in personal mysteries from the simple expedient of getting help, and then quality time investigating a pyromaniacal demon-summoning monkey and then exploring a mansion of Weird Science. What could be better?

I just can't believe that Marvy wrote all of that out by hand, several times...

Sunday and Monday J. and I went up to her parents' house to (much belatedly) celebrate her and her sister's (September) birthdays. Pretty much everyone was sick in a different way, so that was fun.

Yesterday I worked for a bit and then went to student health, where I had to wait for a couple hours (which I spent editing an article on the coronation ceremony of "raising on a shield", first seen among the Romans at the proclamation of Julian the Apostate but ultimately a Gallo-Germanic custom). The doctor I finally got to see was the kindly Irish one I have seen before, who took the opportunity to renew another unrelated prescription for me, which will run out in about 10 days. So at least I don't have to go back for that. When I left student health I called work and said I was going home, and I meant it.

Thanks to the magic of videotape we watched Buffy and Angel back-to-back last night, as nature intended.

I'm on my own this evening as J. visits with Silas. I must remember to tape "The West Wing" for her. It seems Rob Lowe might be replaced as resident 80s brat-packer by Christian Slater. Wacky.

"Gosh, that election really sucked. Well, at least it'll probably be the last one we ever have."
