Reading over the journal of a new LJ friend (hello!) I came across a mention of an article I'm going to have to read for my dissertation. Further reading of her entries identified the venue in which I will find the article. This only goes to show that it's important to read LJ every day.

J. and I had pasta last night. I mention this only because it was a surprisingly unusual event; grad student couples tend to consume much more of the stuff, as indeed have we in the past. But that still doesn't necessarily mean that it is interesting for you to read about, so let's move on.

This Ladytron song is sort of sounding like the Breeders, only more electronic, of course.

Was that more interesting than pasta? I just don't know anymore.

Off to check the "friends" page, and then it's back to slogging through Franz Römer's "Kontrastfiguren in den Annalen des Tacitus" (A.Ant.Hung. 39, 1999, 297-312).

Hi! I've been meaning to add you for a while, but only did so yesterday in a fit of Real World Tedium (tm), again connected with publishing the Journal (this time it's invoicing).

The article is the best of the lot in these two volumes. I may be able to send you a .pdf of it, if you like, since we haven't shipped the issue off to libraries and things. But I'll bet you have already *enough* to read. I know I do :)

Well, if there's a PDF already available, I certainly wouldn't mind reading it. (If for no other reason than that reading things -- especially in English -- means I can, to a point, justify postponing *writing* things.)

Otherwise, I'll get around to finding it when it comes out; the campus library's current periodicals room is not far from where I'm sitting in my office, although the distance becomes admittedly rather longer when actual available doors and stairs and so forth must be taken into account.

I thought about calling attention to its fascinating abbreviation when I mentioned it, but thought, no, damiel or possibly jrg will make a comment. And lo! it has come to pass.
