I'm committed now: I have registered for the conference in Philadelphia in January and accepted my acceptance, if that makes sense, for the conference in Edinburgh in April. Those are now in the hands of the postal service as of about a half hour ago... So I get to Stand and Deliver a 15- or 20-minute talk (respectively) on barbarian warrior babes in the first century to audiences at arguably two of the most prestigious conferences in my field in the English-speaking world.
The live-action "Tick" show last night did not rock. I didn't really expect it would. But it did not even sway gently.
Alas.
Game-geekery abounds this weekend! So the barbarian chicks will have to wait a couple days. I worry they're getting bored now from my lack of attention, and will go off somewhere and encourage their menfolk and fight in the front lines and serve as moral foils to Roman women of the early principate in general, but I won't be there to see it.
